Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kenyatta Smith aka DJ Vader grew up literally digging through the crates of records in his parents' collection, which included a variety of genres like soul, jazz, funk, techno, pop, disco and of course, hip hop.
He started his DJ career in 1992 spinning at house parties and producing mixtapes for friends. His career gained momentum as he became a favorite in Cincinnati nightclubs, motorcycle parties, corporate events and Greek events in the early 2000s. After transitioning to hosting and DJing his own parties for the last ten years, Vader is now affectionately known as "the hair weave-killer" by party-goers.
DJ Vader is the two-time winner of "Cincinnati's Best DJ" competition, and he has worked with some of the world's most energetic artist and entertainers such as Chubb Rock, DJ Kid Capri, Doug E. Fresh, Whodini, Biz Markie, Rick Ross, Too Short, Slick Rick, Naughty by Nature, DJ Spinderella, Dave Hollister, Cedric the Entertainer, Carl Thomas, The Dazz Band, Tom Joyner, plus many other celebrities and acts.
Vader’s infectious tagline "it is pointless to resist" and song selection has made him an event favorite, regardless of the venue. With a career spanning over 20 years, Vader has provided the sounds and hosted hundreds of private parties, weddings and corporate events.
Vader is also a radio personality for Urban One Radio, most recently hosting the "Happy Hour" from 3-7pm Monday - Friday and the "Lunch Time Mixx at Noon". Vader currently host the "Saturday Night Boom Box Side B" on Urban One Radio station RnB Cincy (WOSL 100.3 FM) which draws thousands of listeners weekly. Www.rnbcincy.com
